Karissa + Jeremy’s Lakeside Wedding Golden Mast Okauchee, WI
Karissa and Jeremy Leibfried’s wedding was what summer in Wisconsin is all about! The two were married outdoors at the gazebo at the Golden Mast Inn overlooking Okauchee Lake. Weissgerber’s Golden Mast Inn sits at the southern end of Okauchee Lake, near Oconomoc Lake, just 30 minutes from Milwaukee. The short drive from Milwaukee makes it a great spot for a lakeside wedding with guests only have a short commute in from the city or from Milwaukee’s international airport.
The scenery alone at the Golden Mast gazebo makes it such an ideal spot for a Wisconsin wedding, as it overlooks the lake, but the Leibfried’s added bouquets and tulle to make it the perfect spot for their big day!
Reception Entertainment
Just as much as capturing the details, our photographers also love capturing all the action. Jeremy and Karissa were the most enjoyable couple to partake in all the fun at their wedding reception!
Garter and Bouquet Toss
Most have seen (or maybe even caught!) the bouquet and garter toss at a wedding! This tradition of throwing the garter to all unmarried men at the wedding dates back to Medieval England. Despite the speculations of origin (from the item bringing good luck to a symbol of consummation), we love the fun the winner had with Karissa’s navy lace garter.
The Shoe Game
Typically hours of dancing is the reason you’re taking your shoes off at a wedding reception, but the shoe game is another great reason for the bride and groom! With the shoe game, the DJ lists a series of questions, and the couple raises the shoe of who they think the question fits best for. Some examples are:
- When you first met, who made the first move?
- Who got better grades in school?
- Who is the better dancer?
- Is more likely to get lost?
Friday Wedding
The groomsmens’ “Saturdays are For the Boys” sign was fitting for this Friday wedding, but we think the girls weren’t having it (or just had wine on their mind)! Regardless, a Friday wedding should not be ruled out, especially if you’re set on getting married at a popular time of year, like the summertime in Milwaukee. You can typically save some money with your wedding vendors, since Saturday’s or usually the busiest, and you can make a long weekend of the event. We think a lakeside wedding is a perfect excuse for a long weekend at the lake anyway!
