Sierra + Jacob's Lawrence, KS Wedding at Abe and Jake's Landing

Sierra + Jacob’s Lawrence, KS Wedding at Abe and Jake’s Landing

6.2.21

Congratulations to Sierra and Jacob who officially tied the knot on April 18, 2021.

Venue: Abe and Jake’s Landing

Sierra and Jacob’s big day was spent at the beautiful Abe and Jake’s Landing in Downtown Lawrence, KS. The renovated building has an industrial feeling with its large metal staircase, wooden walls and flooring, and metal framework. The venue is a spacious 14,000 sq. ft. which allows for a large dance floor and 720 person occupancy. The main room also includes 15′ floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the Kansas River. The most captivating part of the building was a custom bar, perfect for gatherings and parties.

The building is full of rich history. It was originally the Consolidated Barbed Wire Company during the 1880’s. It used to be the largest employer in Kansas and neighbors to two local fisherman Abe Burns and Jake Washington for which the building is now named after.

Wedding Ceremony and Reception

The bride and groom got ready in their respective rooms before they took pictures. Sierra’s mother helped her get into her beautiful white gown and applied all the final touches. The couple shared a heartfelt first look and took a variety of pictures around the venue. They were later joined by their bridal party. The groomsmen were dressed in dark blue suits and the bridesmaids were in burgundy dresses, all of the different styles. They laughed together and shared a few drinks around the bar. It was a fun way to start the day!

Sierra and Jacob’s big moment occurred on a beautiful Sunday afternoon at 3:00 pm surrounded by their family and friends. The altar was adorned by a hexagon arbor covered in white curtains and yellow sunflower arrangements. Trina Tyler with a Heartfelt Ceremony performed the ceremony for the couple.  The emotion was felt all around the room, with not a dry eye as they exchanged their personal wedding vows. After their vows, they exchanged rings and sealed their union with a unity coin ceremony before they were finally pronounced husband and wife.

The theme of sunflowers carried over to the table decor as Sierra chose two different types of centerpieces, one with sunflowers and sticks and the other with geometric shapes and sunflower arrangements paired with candles. The couple enlisted the help of their coordinator Tara and owner of All About You Event Planning & Rentals to help bring their vision to life.

In addition to a great meal provided by Hog Wild BBQ, the couple had a fun and unique dessert option for their guest at the receptions; donuts provided by a local Lawrence, KS favorite, Munchers Bakery. Glazed and sprinkled donuts were displayed on a fun donut board and enjoyed by all. After they shared their slices of donut cake it was time to open the dance floor. Sierra’s uncle had the pleasure of being their DJ for the evening. The dances started off with the newly-wedded couple dancing to “It Would Be You” by Ben Rector & Ingrid Michaelson and soon followed by the father-daughter dance and mother-son dance. Their guests then joined them for an evening of fun and laughter on the dance floor.

Before the night was over the couple took off one last time to take their final round of pictures in front of the venue as the sunset over a magical day.

We wish Sierra and Jacob a lifetime of love and happiness!!!
