I’m Emily and I love to have fun! I strive to make sure everyone around me is having a good time. I enjoy learning new things and meeting new people.
When it comes to weddings, I make sure my brides and grooms get what they want and need – they’re the people I want to please the most. I take lots of notes to ensure I have all the correct details, I’m flexible about any changes, and offer solutions or help when mishaps arise. I also am happy to give suggestions based on my experience about anything for your big day. I work together with other vendors to ensure the big day is stress free and fun. If there’s any traditions you have, tell me about them, I’m happy to learn new things and implement them for you. I want you and your guests to enjoy themselves throughout the whole event!
I’m a nerd with a passion for anime, video games, musicals, dungeons & dragons, and more. I love animals; I have cats and dogs at home. I enjoy dyeing my hair fun colors and trying new hair cuts and styles. I love going on adventures! I’m also a foodie and love all sorts of food!

How would you describe your "DJ personality"?

Outgoing, fun, energetic, happy, personable, and approachable.

What is your favorite memory as a DJ?

I was doing music for a wedding ceremony and the officiant and I were talking before it started. She asked me if I could do something specific, I asked her what it was and she told me. I made sure the bride and groom would be okay with it and she assured me they would be, as this was a surprise she wanted to do for them since she was a good friend of the bride and groom. So, queue the ceremony starting, and the officiant started speaking about love. Once I heard my queue, I played “What Is Love?”, just the one line. Everyone, bride and groom especially, laughed for a solid two minutes before it could continue. The bride and groom thanked me and the officiant later.

What makes you stand out as a DJ?

My sense of community is a huge thing with me. Weddings take teamwork to happen, so I’m there helping where I can. Caterer needs help with buns because they only sent one person to set up the buffet? I’m washing my hands and helping. The skate park is too wet for the skate board event? I’m helping dry it with whatever tools we got. Baker doesn’t know where the cake needs to be? I’m helping them find out if I don’t know myself. Father of the bride’s button falls off before the ceremony? I have my sewing kit and am putting it back on. Brought your dog for the ceremony and need someone to watch your four legged friend for a bit? Sure, hand me the leash! Candles need lit? I’ll help. Got your toss bouquet? Leave it with me for the bouquet toss. Last minute photos need to be taken? No worries, I’ll entertain the guests with music. I got your back.

What is your favorite part of a wedding reception and why?

My favorite part of a wedding reception is the dance portion. I get to watch everyone, especially my brides and grooms, relax and have fun. The formalities are done, people are fed, and now it’s time to let loose! I love watching everyone smile and have fun. Watching people create dance circles, conga lines, just overall being silly and on their feet is a wonderful sight to see. I especially love when I play a song and I hear screams of joy and see people running out to the dance floor to absolutely dance their hearts out.

What is your favorite song to play at events and why?

The Pokemon Theme song. When I get asked for this song, it makes me so happy. When I get to play it, people sing along to the lyrics and get really into it. There’s so much passion that goes into singing it together with other people that feels different than other songs.

Why did you decide to become a DJ?
When I first heard about Complete, I was a college freshman at Nebraska Wesleyan. One day, I was leaving our dining hall and met our franchise owner by the doors. He was recruiting at the time. We had this sort of awkward “Hello/Hi” that happens when there’s a promotional table at the dining hall doors. We talked for a while about the company and what being a DJ was like and to me it sounded fun. After getting the information, I applied and started a couple weeks after that. At first, it sounded like a fun job, something new, exciting, different than anything I’ve done before. Now I look back on it and it’s been one of the best decisions I’ve made.
I quickly fell in love with the being a DJ because of the adventures I’ve had, the people I’ve met, the joy and hope I get to spread, and the communities I’ve become a part of. I’ve made many friends because of my work.
I always knew since I was a kid that I wanted to do something with music, and I get to do a lot more with music than I thought I would.
I became a DJ not just because it sounded fun, I realize it’s because it’s different than most jobs and not only can I handle it, I thrive.
What is one fun fact most people don't know about you?

I collect music boxes. They’re whimsical and fun!
