Hello! I’m Grace Shepherd, a videographer based in Lincoln, Nebraska, with a passion for preserving memories through cinematic storytelling. I earned my bachelor’s degree in media arts from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and am approaching my second year of professional wedding videography.
I’m a collaborative and adaptable filmmaker who loves capturing the beauty of human connection. My goal is to blend seamlessly into your day, creating a relaxed space where raw emotion and special moments can shine. Outside of filmmaking, you can usually find me browsing antique shops, shooting film photography, or out dancing with friends!
I’ve always been drawn to the way filmmaking can preserve a feeling, tell a story, and bring people back to a moment long after it has passed. I love the idea that a film can become more than a collection of images, but a way to revisit the people, places, and emotions that make life meaningful. I’m very visually perceptive, tech savvy, and am fulfilled by memorializing people and places.
One of my favorite wedding memories comes from one of the first weddings I filmed with Complete. The ceremony was scheduled for a summer afternoon at Lincoln’s Sunken Gardens, but the moment I arrived, it began to downpour. With no covered area to escape to, everyone sprang into action, scrambling for umbrellas and setting up tents.
Despite the unexpected weather, the couple never lost their excitement. With their alternative style and the bride’s black veil, they looked like they had stepped straight out of a Tim Burton movie. I thought the dramatic weather felt perfectly suited to them. There’s a wedding saying that a wet knot is harder to untie, and watching the two of them navigate the unexpected with so much love and joy made that sentiment especially fitting. It was a lovely reminder that a wedding doesn’t have to go totally according to plan to become unforgettable.
Every wedding brings a new combination of people, personalities, and places, which means every video gets to tell a different story. I love the fast-paced, run-and-gun nature of wedding videography because it challenges me to stay present, think on my feet, and notice the fleeting moments that might otherwise go unnoticed.
Beyond the filmmaking itself, I feel incredibly lucky to hear couples’ stories and witness the relationships that surround them. Being able to preserve those connections in a video that families can revisit and share for generations is what makes this work so meaningful to me.
What makes my work unique is that I take my work very seriously, but I do not present myself in a very serious, invasive way. Weddings come with so much planning, anticipation, and investment, and I want to be someone who makes the day feel easier rather than adding another thing to think about.
I bring a relaxed, collaborative energy to the wedding day, whether that means offering a little posing guidance, hyping you up, or lending an extra hand when things get hectic. I also love working closely with photographers and other vendors to create a supportive team. My goal is to capture beautiful, intentional footage without making you feel like you’re performing for a camera. You should be able to enjoy your day, be yourselves, and trust that the memories are being taken care of.
I especially love the ceremony exit and couple’s portraits because they offer two very different kinds of magic. There’s something infectious about the energy that comes with the pronouncement, the first kiss, and when a couple walk down the aisle together and the excitement finally has room to spill over.
Couple’s portraits offer a quieter kind of beauty. I love using that time to capture intimate, cinematic details and scenic couple’s b-roll that reflect the couple’s personalities and the atmosphere of the day. Those little visual moments often help bring the entire film together.
Outside of weddings, I love making short films with my friends. We recently finished a Jim Henson-inspired puppet film about a purple character named Delmar who gets trapped inside a grandfather clock and encounters a cast of puppets who help him find his way out. It sounds really absurd and goofy, and it is. I’m always excited by opportunities to collaborate, be behind a camera, and bring an imaginative idea to life!
"Easy to work with! From the initial call, preparations with their coordinator, and working with both services we hired for our wedding. Great experience!"
