Obtaining your marriage license may feel stressful. Out of the long list of wedding planning tasks that need to be completed, the marriage license holds the most weight. The marriage license is the most important paperwork that you might ever fill out. Where do you even begin the process of getting your Missouri marriage license? Here is a stress-free guide to obtaining that marriage certificate!
The first step to obtaining your Missouri marriage license is to simply apply. You can do this at the Boone County Recorder’s Office. You and your partner must bring your Photo I.D. and your social security card. Both you and your partner need to be in attendance, and there will be a total of six forms you will both need to fill out.
These forms include:
- Real Estate/Tax Lien Copy Request
- Marriage Copy Request
- Recorded Marriage License Request
- Authorization to Pick-up Recorded Marriage License
- Sample Cover Sheet
- UCC Forms
After filling these forms out you will turn them into the office for review. The cost of the marriage license is $51. Once you have filled out the forms and paid the fee, the hard part is over.
After applying for the marriage license there is a 3 day waiting period. After that 3 day waiting period has concluded, you will have 30 days to get married and have the marriage license signed. You will return the marriage license to the Boone County’s Recorder’s office. You will then pay a small fee of $9 for the marriage certificate.
Once you have completed these steps, the process is officially over. You can go on your honeymoon, relax, and enjoy your marriage!
