The State Room

The State Room is one of Albany’s most recognizable wedding venues, and it’s easy to see why. Located on State Street in a historic building dating back to 1901, the venue has marble walls, vaulted ceilings, grand windows, and plenty of old-school Albany character.

This is a great option if you want your venue to feel elegant without having to add a ton of decoration to make the space feel special.

The Kenmore Ballroom

The Kenmore Ballroom is another downtown option with a historic feel. Located on North Pearl Street, the restored ballroom gives you that classic Albany atmosphere while putting you right in the middle of downtown.

It’s especially worth looking at if you want your wedding to feel like a full downtown Albany experience, with hotels, restaurants, and nightlife nearby for your guests.

The Hangar at 743

The Hangar at 743 in Latham might be one of the most unique wedding venues in the Capital Region.

Yes, there are actual airplanes.

The aviation-themed venue sits on the grounds of Albany International Airport and features an 8,000-square-foot event space, vintage aircraft, a second-floor loft, and the option to open the hangar doors to the tarmac.

If you want your guests to walk into your wedding and immediately say, “Okay, this is SO cool,” this one is worth putting on your list.

Brown’s Revolution Hall

Brown’s Revolution Hall in Troy is another option for couples who want something outside the traditional ballroom box.

Located on River Street, the venue has a more industrial, brewery-inspired feel while still being designed for weddings and receptions. It’s a great fit for couples who want a modern, relaxed atmosphere with a little more personality.

Want a Rustic Barn Wedding?

If your dream wedding involves string lights, greenery, wooden tables, and an Upstate New York backdrop, you have plenty of options around Albany.

Pat’s Barn

Pat’s Barn in Troy is a popular option for couples who want a rustic wedding without feeling like they’ve completely left civilization behind.

The barn gives you that warm, romantic look couples love about rustic weddings, while still giving you a polished setting for a full wedding reception.

It’s a great example of why “rustic” doesn’t have to mean casual.

Stablegate Farm & Vineyard

Stablegate Farm & Vineyard in Castleton-on-Hudson is another Capital Region favorite for the rustic-elegant crowd.

The property features a historic barn, vineyard, horse pastures, and views toward the Catskills. The venue also offers multiple ceremony locations and options for creating a full wedding weekend with things like rehearsal dinners and farewell brunches.

If your Pinterest board is basically “romantic Upstate New York,” this is probably a venue you want to see.

Greywacke Meadows

Greywacke Meadows Event Venue in Cropseyville is another option for couples looking for a barn-style wedding with a little more of a modern event experience.

It’s a good reminder that you don’t have to be in the middle of Albany to have a Capital Region wedding. Some of the area’s best venues are just a short drive outside the city.

Looking for a Country Club Wedding?

There’s a reason country clubs continue to be popular wedding venues. You typically get beautiful grounds, plenty of space, established event infrastructure, and a classic wedding-day feel.

Normanside Country Club

Normanside Country Club in Delmar is a great example.

With multiple event spaces and the golf course grounds providing a scenic backdrop, Normanside can work for everything from a smaller celebration to a larger wedding. Its ballroom can accommodate up to around 300 guests.

It’s also close enough to Albany that your guests don’t have to feel like they’re traveling to another part of the state just to get to the reception.

Albany Country Club

For couples looking for a more traditional country club experience, Albany Country Club in Voorheesville is another Capital Region option worth considering.

This style of venue is especially appealing if you’re looking for a classic wedding with plenty of room for your reception, cocktail hour, and photos all in one place.

Saratoga Springs has a completely different feel from Albany. It’s a little more destination-like, with historic architecture, restaurants, hotels, and plenty for your guests to do before and after the wedding.

Hall of Springs

Hall of Springs is one of the area’s most recognizable Saratoga wedding venues. Located inside Saratoga Spa State Park, the historic venue has an elegant ballroom atmosphere and beautiful surroundings for ceremonies and photos.

It’s a great choice if you want your wedding to feel formal and romantic while still having that unmistakable Saratoga setting.

The Saratoga Hilton

If you’re planning a larger wedding and want the convenience of having accommodations right where your reception is taking place, The Saratoga Hilton is another option to consider. Complete’s venue directory lists it with capacity for up to 600 guests.

That can be a huge advantage when you’re inviting guests from outside the area.

How Do You Actually Pick a Venue?

When you tour a venue, think about how your wedding day will actually work:

• Ask where you’ll get ready.
• Ask where cocktail hour will take place.
• Ask what happens if it rains.
• Ask where your DJ, photographer, videographer, and other vendors will set up.
• Ask where your guests will park.
• And most importantly, ask yourself whether you can actually picture your wedding there.

Because the most beautiful venue in the Capital Region isn’t necessarily the right venue for your wedding. There’s really no wrong answer.
