Kayla is a professional photographer with over nine years of experience capturing people, brands, families, and weddings. With a background in visual arts, photography, and videography, she brings a natural, storytelling approach to her work, creating images that feel genuine, timeless, and full of emotion. Her most common compliment is that she makes people feel truly seen and brings a fun, outgoing energy to every session, helping even camera-shy couples feel comfortable and like themselves. When she’s not behind the camera, Kayla enjoys spending time in nature with her family, thrifting, and being part of her local community.

What do you love most about capturing weddings?

I love that every wedding is completely different. I get to step into a really meaningful day for two people and document all the little moments that make it theirs, from the big emotional moments to the quiet, in-between ones. There’s something really special about knowing that the images I create will become part of someone’s story for years to come.

How would you describe your photography style?

My style is clean, bright, timeless, and natural. I love photographs that feel genuine and full of emotion rather than overly posed or overly edited. I’ll give you direction when you need it, but I also want to leave plenty of room for the real moments, the laughs, the happy tears, and all the little things that happen naturally throughout the day.

What is your favourite moment to capture during a wedding?

The dance floor is one of my favourite parts of a wedding day. By that point, the pressures of the day are over, everyone has relaxed, the music is blasting, and people are just genuinely having fun together. Those candid, chaotic, joy-filled moments are some of my favourites to photograph. And if “Rasputin” by Boney M. comes on, you will absolutely find me on the dance floor too!

What is your favourite wedding venue/location to capture?

The Art Gallery of Hamilton is one of my favourite wedding venues to photograph. I love the combination of beautiful artwork, interesting architecture, and bright spaces, and the way the location gives couples so many opportunities for unique, clean photographs. It has such a distinct character while still allowing the focus to stay on the couple and their day.

What advice do you have for couples to feel more comfortable in front of the camera?

Don’t worry about being “picture perfect” and focus on your day! I’ll give you direction when you need it, but most of my best images happen when couples are simply talking, laughing, walking, and enjoying each other. My biggest advice is to focus on each other and the people with you rather than the camera, and let me take care of the rest!
