How would you describe your "DJ Personality?"

I would say I am pretty outgoing, I enjoy being behind the booth, but sometimes being out on the floor with the guests is a fun time.

What is your favorite memory as a DJ?

My favorite memory so far as a DJ was at my first solo show. I was a little nervous if I could start the night with the right song.  Without further hesitation, I clicked play on “Dancing Queen” and when I tell you the entire room made it to the dance floor, I mean it. There was a solid 60 people on the floor, which looked like it could only hold about 35. That was a great moment.

What is your favorite thing about being a DJ?

Connecting with new people through the pre-calls. Being able to learn about complete strangers, and use that info to make their night great, is one of my favorite things about this job.

What makes you unique/stand out as a DJ?

I’m a musician! I mix music in a different way than a lot of other people I think because I’m looking at the key. A lot of songs don’t flow mainly because the key is different from each other (or just don’t mesh well). Having music theory knowledge, I am able to make it flow seamlessly without it feeling muddy or weird.

When it comes to weddings and receptions, what it your favorite part of the night and WHY?

Dinner time, and not because of the food. During dinner, I like to walk around table to table and take requests which gives me a good chance to gauge my audience and learn about the crowd. I also love getting to talk with the bride and groom as well.

What is your favorite party song to play at events and WHY?

HOT TO GO. I feel like this song always hits, and I personally like the song. Hearing the crowd sing the chorus is (literally) music to my ears.

Why did you decide to become a DJ?

I’ve always thought being a DJ was interesting, and considering the music side of things, I wanted to have this avenue as a path I could go. Being a DJ leaves you with valuable skills not only in mixing, but socially as well.

List one fun fact about you most people don't know:

I play a LOT of video games. I’m a huge fan of single-player story games like Red Dead Redemption II and The Last of Us. A good amount of my free time is spent playing games, as it’s kind of a form of therapy for me. It feels good to sit down with a good game and just play.  I am also a percussionist and a member of the SLSYO!
