How to Plan the Music for Your Wedding Ceremony in San Antonio

So, you are engaged. A huge congratulations from the entire team at Complete Weddings + Events! What an exciting time for you, your fiancé, family, and friends. In all the excitement of planning (selecting the venue, date, dress, flowers, etc.) don’t forget to make your music choices for the big celebration. We see this happen too often. We get it, there are so many things to do in planning a wedding on top of working, family or maybe even finishing up school. Or you are seriously hard-core and you decided to build a new home or move in the midst of wedding planning. Whatever the case, those that set time aside to process and plan their wedding music never regret it.

One of our core values at Complete is service and in an effort to help you plan the music for your wedding ceremony in San Antonio. We have put together a list of songs you will need throughout the day.

How to Plan the Music for Your Wedding Ceremony in San Antonio?

Getting Ready

We are well into the technological age and digital music is king, so ask your bridal party to create and share a Spotify play list that has your favorite music in it to play while you are getting ready.  It will remind you of the great times you shared and also calm your nerves.

Ceremony

While the day begins well in advance of the ceremony, the ceremony is the focal point.  Having background music playing for around 30 minutes prior to the ceremony is key.  It sets the tone for guests as they arrive and mingle before taking their seats.  Our DJs are a great resource for specific prelude music and playlists.  Here are a few specific moments that you will need to make song choices for:

  • Parents Entrance, Groomsmen and Groom
  • Bridesmaids
  • Bride
  • Candle Lighting
  • Recessional Song

Reception

A great way to prepare and plan the music for the reception portion of your celebration is to create a wedding reception playlist on Spotify and throughout your planning process, both you and your fiancé add songs to the playlist that you can share with your Complete DJ who will reach out and connect with you at least 30 days before your wedding to review your specific music needs and preferences.  Here are a few specific moments that you will need to make song choices for:

  • Wedding party grand entrance
  • Bride and Groom’s grand entrance
  • First dance
  • Father-Daughter dance
  • Mother Son dance
  • Wedding Party dance
  • Cake cutting
  • Garter toss
  • Bouquet toss
  • Last song of the night

At Complete Weddings + Events, we provide an online Event Manager tool that assists in planning for all the above specifics.  Additionally, this DJ planning tool includes four pages of questions related to music choices including:

  • Must play songs
  • Do Not play songs
  • Icebreaker songs
