Planning your wedding can be a struggle. It is likely something you’ve never had to plan for in your life! A wedding is something that people don’t plan extremely often so couples might feel bad asking too many questions. However, it’s perfectly normal to ask tons of questions since this is a completely new thing to you! We wanted to help by putting together answers for the most commonly asked wedding planning questions from our Orlando couples!

Most Common Wedding Planning Questions Couples Ask

When do we take photos of ourselves and our families?

There are two options when it comes to taking photos of you and your families. However, it depends on one thing, the first look. If you’re having a first look before the ceremony it’s a good idea to do that a couple of hours before the ceremony begins. This helps so you can use that time in between for all of your important family and couple photos. However, if you’re seeing each other for the first time during the ceremony then you’ll want to take those photos during the cocktail hour. This gives you less time for photos so it’s always worth considering the first look!

Who will play music during the ceremony?

During the ceremony, there are a couple of options when it comes to the music. The first question to ask yourself is if the ceremony will take place at the same location as the reception. If that’s the case, you’ll typically have the DJ play for the ceremony. You could potentially look into having live musicians as well. If your ceremony takes place at a church then you’re most likely to walk down the aisle to a piano or organ (depending on the church). However, some churches will allow you to bring outside musicians in so it’s worth asking!

How will my fiance and I get to our destination after the wedding?

Again, there are a couple of options for your getaway vehicle. It also depends on if you want a ride that night or if you’re comfortable driving off yourself. You could also go the route of having your family/friends decorate your car for you (which is going to happen regardless). If you’re going to do this, it might not be a bad idea to look into finding a pretty cool car to drive off in! Ask around and see if anyone you know has a vintage or high-end car that they’d be willing to lend you for that night. Otherwise, you could always rent one for a day as well! If you’re not comfortable driving away that night, make sure someone from the wedding can drive you. You don’t want to sit in the back of an Uber wearing a wedding dress, that’s an awkward car ride.

When do I need to start planning?

These wedding planning questions are asked by the newly engaged couple. However, it’s probably the most common question asked. This is because it’s really asked by every single couple that begins planning their wedding. The key to beginning the planning process is to take things one step at a time. Many couples get into planning mode and begin to plan out décor for their wedding without knowing what venue it will be at. This can actually cause you to feel overwhelmed in the long run since you’ll be planning things way ahead of schedule. You might realize at that moment how much needs to be done before you can even comfortably get to that point.

The best roadmap for planning is usually going to be to find your venue, the caterer, and then larger vendors (DJ, photographer, and videographer) before looking at décor, dresses, and cakes. This will allow you to breathe knowing that those big stressful items are taken care of and locked in for your date so you can go find your dress without feeling the weight of the entire planning process ahead of you.

When do I need to send invites?

It’s never a bad idea to send out wedding invites as early as possible. You can start with save the dates so that everyone knows when the wedding is. Then, you can send formal invites two to three months prior to the wedding. You likely won’t be inviting everyone to the ceremony but might have a few guests invited to the reception only in which case you can send out ceremony invite inserts for those invited to both ceremony and reception.
