Dueling May Weddings
No two weddings look the same, and that’s exactly the point. Louisville has become one of Kentucky’s most sought-after wedding destinations, with venues ranging from sleek contemporary museums and industrial urban lofts to grand historic churches and sprawling estate gardens. Each setting tells a completely different visual story, and a skilled wedding photographer knows how to read the room and shoot accordingly.
To show just how dramatically a photographer’s approach can shift between weddings, we’re breaking down two distinct wedding aesthetics we see regularly in Louisville, and how each one comes to life through intentional photography.
Wedding Party Style
Our first wedding leaned soft and romantic, the bride chose a classic white lace gown with a sweetheart neckline, and her bridesmaids complemented her in dusty mauve. The groomsmen kept it light with pale ties that echoed the airy palette. Florals were lush and feminine, woven through every bouquet.
The second wedding went bold and high-contrast. The bride opted for a fitted gown with a heavily embellished bodice and a quieter tulle skirt, sparkle up top, elegance below. Her bridesmaids wore rich navy, and the groomsmen matched with darker ties. The result was a striking, fashion-forward bridal party that photographed beautifully against both the church and urban reception backdrops.
Two completely different visions, and two very different sets of editing choices from our photographers to honor each one.

Ceremony & Reception Venues
Venue selection shapes everything about how a wedding is photographed, and these two weddings couldn’t have chosen more different settings.
The first couple held their ceremony and reception under one roof at a clean, modern museum. The open architecture, neutral walls, and consistent natural light gave our photographer a seamless canvas to work with from start to finish. The cohesion between ceremony and reception created a gallery with a beautifully unified feel.
The second couple went in the opposite direction, a grand church for the ceremony, with soaring ceilings and intricate architectural details that made for breathtaking processional shots, followed by an urban reception venue where the couple transformed the space with their own festive details.

Wedding Cake
Both weddings featured stunning three-tiered white cakes, but each one was styled to perfectly match its wedding’s personality.
The first cake was adorned with cascading pink and white roses, soft and romantic against a lush floral backdrop that framed it like a still life painting. The second cake kept the white base but added a custom glitter topper and a dramatic table linen that made it pop against the darker reception décor.
Both were show-stopping. Both told a story. And both reminded us why cake detail shots are always worth the extra few minutes, they’re among the most shared photos from any wedding gallery.
