Wedding Postponed Due to COVID-19 in Kansas City
1. Pick a few different date options.
It is a safe choice to choose a date several months out, as the Coronavirus hopefully clears out. Be willing to choose a date that you wouldn’t have chosen otherwise. Have several options so that your vendors can be as helpful as possible. They will likely have other events scheduled, so it may be challenging. The more options, the better. If there is a specific vendor that is a top priority to you and your fiance, call them to ask what available dates they have first. This can be helpful in choosing a solid date to share with your vendors and guests.
2. Contact ALL vendors.
Know that postponing your wedding is much better than canceling. Most vendors will be willing to move things around. If the event is canceled, your deposit may not be refundable. Be sure to read through the fine print about postponing or canceling to make sure it’s a possibility. Some places may have a fee charged for rescheduling, but with the current circumstance, most are being flexible and willing to waive.

Thank you for being so understanding and flexible. We greatly appreciate you.
3. Inform wedding guests.
Communicate with your wedding guests that it was a tough decision to postpone. The decision was made thinking of the health and safety of all involved. Let them know of the future scheduled date and ask them to update their RSVP if need be. Assure them that you will keep them informed if things need to be moved around again. There is no need to feel guilty or ashamed of making this decision. Many couples are facing this same challenge.
4. Take a deep breath.
Everything will be okay. This is a challenging time for everyone. Most people will be understanding, sympathetic, and helpful.
