Asian + African Inspired Wedding in Jacksonville

10.6.20

Jenny and Cyril’s spring wedding in St. Augustine was full of laughter, an abundunce of family and friends, and nods to each of the bride and groom’s heritages. The couple chose staple Jacksonville wedding venues to give their guests a grand experience for the Northern Florida affair in April 2019!

Grand Wedding in Jacksonville Ceremony

At the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, there is simply not a bad angle. This massive historic parish in downtown Jacksonville will give you stunning wedding ceremony photos! Just preview Jenny’s and Cyril’s big day to get a glimpse!

Wedding Attire

We instantly fell in love with both the bride’s long sleeve lace wedding dress with a fluffy tulle skirt and the groom’s blue paisley tuxedo jacket and black tie. This unique printed tuxedo jacket and black pants stood out against the rest of the groomsmen’s all-blue suits.

There were not one, but TWO costume changes for the bride and groom. After arriving to the reception in their wedding ceremony outfits, the couple changed into comfortable, yet still formal, attire for a traditional Filipino dance called Tinikling. This national dance of the Philippines involves two people beating, tapping, and sliding poles on the ground while one person and multiple individuals jump and step over and in between the poles. This dance was performed by both the bride and groom individually and then together in synchronization. Catch scenes of Jenny and Cyril dancing this perfectly in their wedding video below!

After the traditional Philippine dance, the third outfits worn by the bride and groom were more traditional African wedding attire. They then danced the night away in these matching blue printed outfits!

The bridesmaid dresses were in varying shades of purple, while the groomsmen all wore purple ties and purple floral boutonnieres. Purple was definitely the color of the day, keeping a harmonious color scheme from the wedding ceremony to the reception.

Reception – Plenty of Purple

If you weren’t already convinced how fun-loving Jenny and Cyril by their wedding ceremony photos, their wedding reception photos captured it all! The couple’s reception was held at the Adam W. Herbert University Center, which was decorated with purple uplighting, napkins, chair bows, and other purple accents to match the purple bridesmaid’s dresses and other lilac looks of the day.
