Wedding showers are a moment to breathe in between planning your wedding and your engagement. This is a great way for your guests to meet each other for the first time before your big day. The big question is, how do you keep your guests entertained? Whether you’re planning on having the party for just the bride, or the wedding couple, we have all the answers right here with four of our favorite couples shower games!

Fun Couples Shower Games

The Shoe Game

The shoe game is an oldie but a goodie that guarantees laughter from all! It has been played at many wedding-related parties, and actual weddings, so you may even want to save it for the big day. The shoe game is pretty simple and only requires three groups of participants: the soon-to-be wedded, the host, and of course an audience.

How to play the Shoe Game:

  1. Have the couple sit back to back in front of the guests.
  2. The bride and groom will take off their shoes and switch one shoe between the two of them. Leaving each person with one of their own shoes, and one of their partner’s shoes.
  3. The host will then ask the couple questions of “Who is most likely to…”. The couple will lift up the shoe belonging to the one that they think is the most likely to…

The Shoe Game has been such a popular game over the years that our Greenville Wedding DJs have perfected hosting the shoe game at weddings! They’ll help keep it fun and interactive when leading the game.

The Couples Roast

A fun twist on charades, The Couples Roast is a great game for couples that can take being in the hot seat. Caution, this one is not for the easily offended. The couple will get to find out what their guests really think of them in a light-hearted way!

Here’s how to play The Couples Roast:

  1. The hosts will write different scenarios that the bride and groom may end up in on pieces of paper and put them in a hat.
  2. The guests will partner up in pairs of two.
  3. Each pair will draw from the hat and act out the scenario. The twist comes with the guests acting as if they were the soon-to-be wedded couple.

For example, a guest draws “Finding a spot to eat for dinner”. That guest and their partner then act out the scene as the couple. All while trying to perfect the couple’s mannerisms. No one knows the couple better than themselves, so they’ll be the judge of who gets to win! This is one of the best games to play at a couples shower.

Find the Guest

Find the Guest is a great icebreaker game that encourages your guests to know each other. This might also be a great game at your rehearsal dinner when a ton of family, friends, and future in-laws who have never met are coming together. By playing this game, they’ll have to interact with each other to be able to figure out who the specific fact belongs to!

Here’s how to play Find the Guest:

  1. Write out some fun facts you know about each of your guests on separate pieces of paper.
  2. Have each of your guests draw a piece of paper as they arrive.
  3. By the end of the night, your guests will have to try to figure out who the random fact belongs to based on their conversations.

Pass The Vows

Last but not least, a wonderful game of pass the vows is a great addition to your list of bridal or couples shower games or can be played at a bachelor or bachelorette party. Are you still in need of writing your vows? Look no further than your guests to help you! Or at the very least, they can give you a laugh with their wild ideas.

Here’s how to play Pass the Vows:

  1. With one piece of paper and a writing utensil, have the guests pass them around with each turn. You can also use a cell phone or tablet here if it’s faster to type.
  2. Guest one starts the vows with one line or you can limit it to three to four words. They pass it on to the next player.
  3. Guest two then adds on to what the last player added. Keep this going until the last player is reached, making sure the last player knows their job is to wrap up the final sentence.

Once the vows are complete, the bride must perform the vows in their most dramatic voice! (a little alcohol buzz definitely helps with this one).

Wedding Charades

There’s no better way to get your guests up, moving, and laughing than with a lively game of Wedding Charades. The rules are straightforward, and it’s a game that everyone, regardless of age, can enjoy.

Here’s how to play Wedding Charades:

  1. Before the shower, brainstorm a list of wedding-related phrases. These could be anything from “cutting the cake” to “first dance” or “bouquet toss.” Write each phrase on a separate piece of paper and place them all in a bowl.
  2. Divide your guests into two teams. One at a time, a member from each team will come up, pick a phrase from the bowl, and act it out without speaking or making any sounds.
  3. Their team will have a limited amount of time (usually 60 seconds) to guess the phrase. If they do so correctly, they earn a point. If not, the other team gets a chance to steal.
  4. The game continues in this way until all the phrases have been acted out. The team with the most points at the end wins!

This game is guaranteed to lead to some hilarious interpretations and misinterpretations, leaving your guests in fits of laughter and creating unforgettable memories.

Remember to keep this one fun and as whacky as you’d like!

Wedding Pictionary

Drawing games never fail to inject a good dose of fun into any party, and Wedding Pictionary is no exception. Just like classic Pictionary, but with a bridal twist, this game ensures heaps of laughter and some potentially funny sketches!

Here’s how to play Wedding Pictionary:

  1. Preparation: Similar to Wedding Charades, jot down wedding-related words or phrases on individual pieces of paper. Think along the lines of “honeymoon,” “proposal,” “bridesmaids,” “garter toss,” and so forth. Once done, fold them and place them in a bowl.
  2. Set Up: Have a whiteboard or large pad of paper and markers ready. If you’re playing at a larger venue, a projector would be ideal.
  3. Divide & Conquer: Split your guests into two teams. Each team will take turns sending up a representative to draw.
  4. Draw & Guess: The chosen representative will draw the wedding word/phrase they pick from the bowl, while their team tries to guess the word within a time limit. Remember, no letters or verbal hints are allowed!
  5. Score & Win: A correct guess within the time frame earns the team a point. The game continues until all words have been drawn. The team with the most points at the end emerges as the victors!

Encourage everyone to think outside the box and get as creative as possible. You’d be surprised at some of the artwork that can emerge, adding even more humor and excitement to your shower!
