Learn More About Liv Chow

Why did you decide to become a photographer?

I decided to become a photographer because I have always loved the arts, but was never able to find something I was good at, until I found photography – I was finally able to create something I was proud of, that made me and others happy to look at.

What is your favorite memory from an event you shot at?

My favorite memory from an event I shot at was a wedding where I was in the dressing room for the groomsmen, and they were all very nervous, but the love and support they had for the groom could be felt by anyone in the room. I’ll never forget the feeling I had when I was there – one of love and kindness from people I didn’t even know.

What makes your work unique / stand out?

Something that makes my work unique, is that I love to photograph created scenes and objects, which adds an ambience you can’t get by just being a portrait photographer. Being able to come up with a lively scene in a still image is very hard to do, but is something I am able to do due to the connection I have with the creation of the scene itself.

What is your favorite thing about being a photographer?

My favorite thing about being a photographer is the smile I can put on someone’s face by just expressing myself creatively. Being creative and artistic is a passion of mine, so if my passion can make someone else happy too, I’m over-the-moon ecstatic.

List one fun fact most people do not know about you

I teach darkroom and digital photography at the college level, at the same college where I graduated with a bachelor’s of science in photography.
