Steve is the senior DJ on our staff, having been with Complete for more than 25 years. He won Michigan’s DJ of the Year award the very first year it was awarded in 1998, repeating the accomplishment in 2016, 2018, and 2020. Steve was also awarded Michigan’s Employee of the Year award in 2017, in recognition of many years of leading and organizing Complete’s staff in service projects. He has also worked at the Franchise Owner level, having developed a Complete presence along the lakeshore, including Holland, where he lives. Steve has won numerous awards and accolades throughout his career, both as a DJ and an owner. More brides have requested him in Michigan than any other Complete DJ. He has attained the highest rank ever achieved by a Complete DJ in Michigan, Platinum IV, having performed at more than 1,000 weddings over his career. An actor/director by training and a writer by vocation, Steve is also a wedding officiant, freelance writer/editor, voiceover artist, pub trivia, and burlesque host. Everyone was so accommodating and reassuring during our repeated questions and confirmations. They rolled with the punches even though we had some untraditional/quirky requests, and everything went smoothly--they even invested in upgrading some of their equipment to enhance our experience. Marcus is one of the most professional DJs on staff! We had John as our wedding day DJ and he was PHENOMINAL! He was so personable and friendly right off the bat. John was very pleasant to work with. He is professional and had a great sense of humor. We loved how organized he was and his experience with small weddings was the perfect fit for us. We had a few different songs for the bridal party entrance to the wedding and those change overs were smooth. The songs during the wedding were also on point. My dad and I had a surprise mash up dance for our daddy daughter dance. John helped take the combination I had created and turned it into the mash up with smooth transitions. Each couple of the bridal party entered the reception to a different song of their choice, and John picked the perfect 15 seconds of each song to play for this! Overall, he was a wonderful MC and DJ for our wedding. Would hire him again!!

Our DJ was Jon. I can't tell you how many compliments we had after the wedding with how great the music was. There was always a good # of people on the dance floor throughout the night. Two of my concerns for my wedding was 1: the weather and 2: great dancing music. You can't control the weather but Jon nailed it on the music! He also handled the ceremony music/microphones, the cocktail hour music, and the speeches all of which were in different places on the venue. We had some special requests for songs and Jon remembered and played each one at the right time. He also got the wedding party drinks during dinner and always made sure we were taken care of. He went above and beyond his responsivities as a DJ.

Why did you become a DJ?
I became a dj because I like entertaining. I let couples know is that there are a couple of reasons why I enjoy what I do. The first is because I like to have fun and I like to make sure everyone else is having fun too.
Another reason is because, when it comes to wedding ceremonies, the music is one of the most influential parts of the ceremony and it sets the tone. Its a honor and privilege to be able to be a part of one of the biggest days in two peoples lives and i want to make it as perfect as i can.
What is your favorite part of the night?
That’s a good question. There are things to every part of the night that are highlights. Maybe its assuring the music is perfect during the ceremony. Or it could be meeting people and welcoming them. I’ll even make it fun going table to table handing out request slips. Music helps drive the mood and assuring all the music sets that tone is what i like to do.
So honestly, i cant say what my favorite part of the night is. But I can tell you what my least favorite part of the night is. Its the part after I tell everyone “drive safe and have a good night” and the lights come on.
What makes you unique as a DJ?
I believe the thing that helps me thrive as a dj is the fact that , even though my birth certificate says one thing my attitude and energy says another. It does help me connect with all ages though.
Another strong point may be a disadvantage as well. I like to add some of my emotion into the tempo which is feeding off of the dance floor. Playing music geared towards all ages keeps everyone engaged and does not exclude anyone.
What is your favorite DJ memory?
I have a lot. A lot of good memories and some, well, yeah we will credit those as learning points. One of my favorite dj memories came from the low point of a bride and groom.
It was my 1st or 2nd year and i did a wedding reception. The estimated guest count was 150. Everything was set for 150 except for the actual count. Including the the bridal party and bride and groom, there were a total of about 36 people that showed up. I did everything i could to still try and make the evening as fun and special as i could.
The comments left on my evaluation are ones that have stuck with me when they said “we hired a dj and what we got was more like a part of the family”.
List one fun fact about you most people do not know
I was a firefighter for almost 20 years. I have a real strong passion in fire prevention, education and awareness. However, when i was a kid like 5 or 6 years old it was the total opposite. I was a little pyro until one day i went to the big church lot at the end of the road and set a tree on fire. As if that wasnt bad enough, i could see the fire department about 750′ feet in the background.
Well when they showed up, which only seemed like a matter of seconds later, one of them came up to me and asked if i saw who did it and the only thing i remember saying was “a kid ran that way”.
Needless to say the only damage was to this tree sitting in the middle of the lawn and that was the end of my pyro days.
Our DJ, Dennis, was great! He spent a long time with us on the phone going over all of the details for our wedding day to make sure that everything went smoothly. He was also very attentive to us throughout the day of the wedding, making sure we had everything we needed.

Why did you become a DJ?
I was in the entertainment industry with hosting trivia, and when this job became available, I thought it would come natural. I also have interest in becoming a radio jockey.
What is your favorite part of the night?
Once the dance floor opens, I take any song requests, turn up the volume, and watch everyone have a good time!
What makes you unique as a DJ?
I can improvise almost any situation that requires a last-minute change: such as repositioning speakers so they are not in anyone’s walkway, finding places to tuck cords away.
What is your favorite DJ memory?
Too many to list: from having a dog on the dance floor, teaching people how to do the Wobble or Cha-Cha Slide and watching people fight for a bouquet or garter.

I have a certification in voiceovers, and I can do several voiceover impressions.
DJ Peter was so so great! He was willing to chat on the phone, answer my texts, and make last minute changes that all helped make our day so special. Peter was also so fun the day of our wedding! He graciously took our guests’ requests, was so kind every time I ran up to his booth to ask him to play my song next, and danced with us during every line dance! My grandfather could play almost any instrument on the planet. He had his own band, “Colonel Boyd’s Dixieland Band”, and he always said that he wanted someone else in the family to pursue music, to keep that spark alive.
Why did you become a DJ?
It started out as just a job. I needed it because my unemployment was running out. I stayed a DJ after being convinced by our fearless leader Justin. I am a DJ now to bring inspiration and joy to people through music and personality. I enjoy meeting new people.
What is your favorite part of the night?
Ending the bulk of the business aspect of the wedding (ceremony, intros, speeches…etc…etc) and starting the party when that first note of an upbeat song hits and people are compelled to leave there seats and dance it makes my soul smile.
What makes you unique as a DJ?
My eclectic taste in music and my vast library I have in my head. Also my circle salute is in like any other and I get compliments on it all the time of people who wished they had it at there wedding or want to have it at there wedding in the future. I never tell my clients about it and I present as a gift from me to them.
What is your favorite DJ memory?
It was at Bengel Wild Life Conservancy it was for Nick and Jordann Ferguson on October 18th 2019. The whole night was amazing they treated me like family right from jump I got a huge recognition on Facebook and even got pics with them. My family and I were invited to there parents house for trick or treating and we even ate dinner with them. I made life long friends on that day.

I am a retro gamer my favorite game on any platform is Super Mario Bros. 3 for original NES. I am also a huge cinephile.

I cannot imagine having my wedding with any other vendor. It just so happens we had just been to a wedding prior in which the DJ played songs requests from guests over text, which sounded like a good idea in theory- but we felt that the actual execution of that felt very disjointed.
That's why when we met with Rob and quickly noticed his extensive knowledge base/experience-- we basically just told him the feel of things we were going for, and let him take the reins.
This was another one of the best decisions we made-- he was amazing! He made everything flow perfectly throughout the evening, without any awkward vibes/pauses.
He also was a great director in leading speeches, games, etc for us (My easily distracted self needs that!) We had SO many compliments on him by guests, it was a big dance party for everyone of all ages. "Your DJ was AWESOME"

What is your favorite DJ memory?
One of my favorite DJ memories was at a high-energy high school event where the dance floor became a vibrant hub of enthusiasm. The guests’ joy and energy were contagious as they danced and formed circles, showcasing their dance skills. It was an unforgettable experience that highlighted the power of music to unite people and create moments of pure celebration.

Besides being a dedicated DJ, I’m also a passionate foodie who loves exploring various cuisines with an open mind. When I’m not spinning tunes, you’ll find me in the kitchen experimenting with flavors and cooking up delicious dishes. Additionally, I have a hidden talent as a music producer – I love making beats and writing music for fun. In fact, I once published a song that garnered over 20,000 streams.

How would you describe yourself as a DJ?

What is you favorite thing to do as a DJ?
I think my favorite thing to do as a DJ is to make everyone’s energy as high as it can be. If I can make everyone observably enjoy themselves and let loose, then it’s my favorite thing to do!
What is your goal as a DJ?
Ultimately my goal is to have everyone more than satisfied and enjoying themselves, especially the people that the event is about. My goal is to make them feel incredibly happy and like nothing else can beat this moment.

Why did you become a DJ?

My favorite memory was at the end of an event night, when I was already starting to pack up and people were leaving. I had multiple guests take the time to tell me that I did a great job and that they had a blast. That’s what I love, helping people have fun.

Outside of being an DJ I am also a Healthcare worker, and currently have a house of residents cheering me on whenever I’m not working with them. They help me a lot and inspire me to do my best, and to be grateful for everyday things and any opportunities that come my way.

I became a Dj because I was looking for a part time job and when I saw they where hiring I instantly applied. Being a very outgoing person and some one who is a karaoke nut and have had to dj karaoke sets multiple times it is something that I love doing. I have always wanted to dj more than just karaoke as I know I would love it and be great at it.
What is your favorite part of the night?
My favorite part of the night would have to be after the dinner and letting everyone let their Hair down and enjoy a great wedding and evening.
I also enjoy the end of the night and I get to hear how much people enjoyed the wedding and the night.
What makes you unique as a DJ?
What makes me a unique DJ is that I will make sure that my wedding or event has the white glove service all the way thru the initial meeting appt, all they way thru the event. I want the bride and groom to know that I will be ready to make their day as special as possible, and make sure that it is a night to remember and they have fun and party as well.
What is your favorite DJ memory?
I would have to say that when I was a karaoke DJ, I had a younger kid that wanted to sing but was really nervous so I asked my girlfriend to help her sing so she wasn’t so nervous. I was able to have the bar give her a huge round of applause for having the courage to sing.
List one fun fact about you most people do not know
I bit my tongue in half on the bumper cars at cedar point when I was 8 and had to get 24 stitches.
Why did you become a DJ?
To make magical music moments, and help bring forth the clients visions of their special day!
What is your favorite part of the night?
Dedication dances and or the final last hour of high energy dance songs. Where everyone is singing along! It’s the part of the night many people wish would never end!
What makes you unique as a DJ?
A unique brand of character, that is positive with energy that will spread across the people! Attention to detail, and wanting to get things just right!
What is your favorite DJ memory?
Beautiful mother son dance where they all sang the words and like everyone dropped a tear! The whole room was struck in awe!

Friends call me Scheff. Comes from my last name and having 10 years cooking experience!
Made our wedding personal and special! Our DJ was attentive to every need and was flexible! Communication was outstanding!

Kyon was an amazing DJ. He fit the vibe so well. It was like he was a close friend just helping out. It was truly lovely.
He was very thoughtful and kept everything flowing. He made sure no one touched our cake or the desserts until it was time for cake, because I (bride) told him I was concerned people will try to get desserts when it wasn't time, but he made an announcement and kept an eye out for us. I highly recommend that he continue doing what he's doing!

Martin is a person that always puts 110% into everything he does, especially when it comes to DJ-ing! He’s been in the industry for a few years now and has done everything from weddings to birthday parties to school dances.
