How would you describe your “DJ Personality?” I love interacting with the crowd when the occasion calls for it! Don’t get me wrong, I can shut up and play the hits, but putting the spotlight on that uncle that’s breaking it down on the dance floor, or the kid brother and sister getting into an epic dance battle is so much fun. Making everyone feel included during the night is an awesome feeling!
What is your favorite memory as a DJ? I’ll never forget the time everyone at the reception formed an 80 person-long conga line that danced out of the ballroom, down the stairs, out of the building, and back. I had to start the song over! It was epic.
What is your favorite thing about being a DJ? So many things… but the best thing is that moment when you bring in a song that nobody expected. Playing that song that nobody knew they needed to hear right then and there, and watching the dance floor light up is worth every dollar and minute spent becoming a DJ.
What makes you unique/stand out as a DJ? I love making my own mash-ups and remixes, so if you hear an interesting version of a classic song during the night, chances are its one of my own!
When it comes to weddings and receptions, what it your favorite part of the night and WHY? Opening up the dance floor would be too obvious – so for me it’s definitely the grand entrance! I love taking the special music the bride and groom have selected, and using it to amp up the crowd and get the evening started. For me, that’s when the party truly starts!
What is your favorite party song to play at events and WHY? Dancing Queen by ABBA. No matter what the energy in the room is, that opening piano slide coming in out of nowhere takes the night to the next level!
Why did you decide to become a DJ? I come from a musical family and have a lot of experience playing in bands and setting up live performances. Once I reached the level I’d been seeking as a musician, I needed to find that next outlet to express myself and set the mood; DJing was the next logical step.
List one fun fact about you most people don’t know: Prior to working for Complete, DJing was always a hobby, but I was in the service industry for nearly two decades. Don’t be surprised if you see me coming to clear empty plates and glassware so your wedding party’s table is nice and clean! Your photographer will thank me!
