More about Brooke Shelton:

Why did you decide to become a photographer?

I took photography classes in college and trained as a photojournalist. Ultimately, I decided not to pursue photojournalism, but I did not want to give up photography. In 2010, I began training as a wedding photographer and have been shooting weddings ever since!
What is your favorite memory from an event you’ve shot?
The bride was a tuba player and her whole marching band brought their instruments. During the reception, they all played and marched around the hall. The bride led the band and was in her wedding dress playing her tuba, the guests were having a blast, and it was so much fun to photograph!
What is your favorite thing about being a photographer?
I enjoy all the happiness that is in the air at weddings. It is such a special day and I always feel honored to be a part of it.
What makes you or your work unique/stand out?
I feel like my background in photojournalism helps me capture the feel of the day and my photos show the honest emotion of the guests, family, and couple. Also, my experience and down to earth nature tend to help the couple relax and be at ease when I am photographing them.
What is your favorite part of the event?
My favorite part of a wedding is the toasts. This is when I get to hear all the funny or emotional stories about the couple. I love to laugh along with the crowd, or get all teary eyed during touching moments and heartfelt toasts.
List one fun fact about you most people do not know:
I have been to all the states except for Hawaii and Michigan!
