With Spring approaching fast, there are plenty of couples looking to begin the wedding planning process. However, in order to get the ball rolling, there’s this little thing that needs to happen. The proposal! There are so many different ways to propose and so many styles that fit different couples, and we’ve put together some ideas that we hope you can find helpful.
Proposal Ideas
From big, grand gestures to intimate ideas that involve just the two of you, there are many different ways to pop the question. The most important thing to consider when making this decision is to keep the other person in mind the whole way through. For example, if you aren’t typically very affectionate in front of others but your better half is then it’s maybe a good idea to consider that and maybe propose in front of those important to you both (unless you think they would dislike that). On the flip side, if your significant other would prefer to keep things private and intimate but you’re always one for grand gestures then we would suggest leaning towards a more intimate proposal.
Beach Proposal
Look, we understand how in Florida the beach proposal is used extremely often. However, sometimes things are common and done often because of how great they are. There is a strong case that beach proposals fit into this category. Nothing beats an engagement photo with the sun setting far behind you while you get down on one knee to pop the question. I mean, a sunset on the ocean is a hard thing to beat!
The Family Event Proposal
If your significant other highly values their family and you know they’d want to celebrate with them immediately after the proposal then a proposal during some sort of family event is something to consider. You may not want to be WITH the entire family when you pop the question but it might be fun to be at an event with everyone so you can celebrate after the fact. It’s an extremely fun feeling running back to your family with pure elation!
A Walk Down Memory Lane
This idea is especially great if you’ve been together for a long time and have a lot of memories together. Think back to some of the most memorable dates or even just randomly great days that you’ve had together. Make a list of every day together that holds significance and absolutely keep your significant other in mind when making this list to make sure they would agree with everything on it. Once you have a decent list put together, begin to get creative!
You can either simply take them to each spot throughout the day or weekend or you could give hints at each location as to where you’re going next and have the other person guess where you’re taking them. This adds an even bigger sense of mystery to the day and can be a fun twist as long as you know your soon-to-be fiancé is fond of solving puzzles like this.
A Weekend Getaway
One way to further celebrate the engagement is by going on a weekend getaway to propose! With this idea, you could either go with a classic option like a fancy dinner, or you could use your surroundings and the area to your advantage (which we recommend doing). For example, if you’re in a mountainous area propose in the mountains or if you’re in New York use Times Square or a beautiful spot in the city. However, regardless of how you propose, you’re going to have a couple of days together after the proposal to enjoy your getaway and celebrate the engagement! This option allows for a memorable trip along with a very memorable proposal if you do it right!
The Disney Proposal
Just like the beach proposal, we get that this option is used excessively here in Orlando. However, there’s a good reason for it! How many couples fly down from thousands of miles away or even different countries for the opportunity to propose at Disney?! We have that option in our own backyard so it’s well worth considering when popping the question. Sometimes nothing beats the classic proposal photo of you putting that ring on with the Magic Kingdom castle in the background.
