2020 was crazy! Whether it was their Plan A or Plan Z, couples had events that will NEVER be forgotten. Cori and Zach were one of our Twin Cities couples who got to experience one of the special parts of having an event with a Covid Wedding Surprise.
A Covid Wedding Surprise Drive-by Wedding
We’ll let Heather, their Photographer, explain:
“Covid has been really tough on all of us, and I cannot imagine planning a wedding with a grand vision of what the day will be like, only to be told that you cannot have your friends and family by your side. My heart really went out to Cori and Zach (Complete Weddings + Events Twin Cities 2020 Couple), who got married December 12th, 2020, during one of the most restricted times in Minnesota. They could only have immediate family at their ceremony and no reception.
So, imagine my excitement when Cori’s sister pulled me aside minutes before the ceremony to tell me about “the surprise” they had planned. Friends and family who were previously on the guest list met outside the church, socially distanced in their cars, patiently waiting to greet the newlyweds. The couple was immediately taken aback with emotion — both a mix of happiness and love, with a touch of bittersweet. This wasn’t the end of the surprise though. Everyone hopped in their cars in what ended up being a caravan of loved ones to a second location, where Cori’s parents had staged a car trailer with lights and music, so the couple could officially have their first dances. Cori looked on in disbelief and tears, (and I honestly cried a little myself… but luckily, I had my camera to hide behind).
Overall, the event was unforgettable and will hopefully be looked back at fondly. I know it will be a wedding I’ll never forget.”
