Michael “DJ Lex”

Michael was born in Kearney, Nebraska, and though he’s traveled the world during his 10 years of military service, the Cornhusker State has always been home. As a former Combat Medic who served for six years, Michael originally dreamed of becoming a doctor—and he found a path that allowed him to heal, serve, and support others in powerful ways.

Growing up in a split family taught Michael resilience and independence from a young age. That strength has carried through every chapter of his life—from military deployments to volunteer work, and now into the heart of his Nebraska community. He’s an outdoorsman at heart, with a deep love for hunting, fishing, and just about anything that involves being outside.

Michael shares life with his wife, Lisa, and their daughter, Jennifer—along with a lively pack of pets: three cats (Sam, Fadely, Basil) and four dogs (Stella, Ember, Willow, and Clifford, the big red dog). He’s a proud supporter of all things Nebraska, especially Husker sports, and he’s deeply passionate about causes close to his heart: autistic children, fostering, St. Jude, and veterans’ support.

Through his full-time job, Michael and his team actively volunteer in the community—partnering with local organizations like Mission in Hastings and the AKC of Grand Island, where two of his dogs serve as certified therapy animals. He’s recently joined Combat Warriors Inc., helping fellow veterans reconnect through hunting, fishing, and peer support.

Survivor of a life-changing accident and now living his second chance, Michael is committed to bringing joy, laughter, and meaning to others. Whether he’s leading first aid efforts (he’s First Aid, AED, and CPR certified), earning honors like the Lineage Breakthrough Performance Award, or being nominated Soldier of the Year three times, Michael shows up with purpose.

For him, every smile is a victory—and getting to create moments of celebration for people across Nebraska is the best reward of all.
