Although opinions vary from couple to couple, it’s safe to say there are a few key elements that most consider when choosing their wedding date. From outdoor temperatures to venue pricing, the month a wedding takes place can heavily affect how it looks and feels. As a wedding videographer, most of the couples I’ve worked with lean towards warm weather and bright colors. However, I’ve also had my fair share of winter weddings, too! Because of this, it’s difficult to say what the “best” months to get married in Columbus are. It’s entirely subjective, yet an important choice to make.

Best Months to Get Married in Columbus, Ohio
#1. October
Between the comfortable temperatures, gorgeous Autumn colors and fast-approaching holidays, October is without a doubt THE most popular wedding month in Columbus. Some of my favorite shots are from this time of year, as it’s nearly impossible to capture images that don’t look good. Besides the minor chance of rain, you really can’t go wrong with getting married in October! However, given how popular of a choice this month is, it’s crucial that couples book their vendors well in advance. Availability can drop quick, and prices can rise fast.

#2. May
With Spring reaching its end, tying the knot in May allows you to avoid the rain of April AND the heat of Summer. I’ve worked with dozens of couples who’ve hosted their weddings in May, and it’s easily become one of my favorite times of year! Additionally, many plants and flowers will begin to bloom, which can add to the beauty of your wedding and the images captured throughout.
Along with a selected date, pairing it with a complementary venue is a great way to enhance the benefits of your chosen month. Jorgensen Farms, for example, is an excellent fit for May weddings, as it hosts tons of greenery and surrounding nature. Although typically not as sought after as October, May is definitely another popular wedding month, so I recommend finding your vendors in advance here, as well!

Mainly couples overlook November as their wedding month, yet it’s my personal favorite for many reasons. Not only is it usually the cheapest on this list, but there’s so many perks that come with it! The colorful, vibrant leaves of October are often still hanging around, yet the low temperatures of December typically haven’t fully set in, either.
These conditions can vary slightly from year to year, but in my experience, November is without a doubt one of the best months to get married in Columbus. Thanksgiving being close makes it even better, as many caterers offer delicious holiday menus! There are pros and cons to everything, and the chosen time of year to get married in Columbus is no different. Like mentioned before, it’s up to the couple’s preferences, but there are many pros included with October, May and November. From the great weather to the gorgeous scenery, there’s little to worry about choosing one of these months as your wedding months!
