Patti spent her last day as an Opp on May 20, 2020, when she married her best friend, Jonah. The couple chose a beautiful venue, Dooley Lodge Chapel, to host there micro wedding. The Chapel at Dooley lodge is an adorable quaint chapel located just outside of Branson, Missouri. It’s surrounded by beautiful trees and is only a short walk to Tablerock Lake. It was the perfect backdrop to Patti and Jonah’s Branson micro wedding!
Jonah and Patti met at there church while we were in high school, but did not become friends or start dating until college. Jonah proposed by taking Patti out to a place near Montauk State Park called Bo’s Hollow (a special place Jonah’s grandpa used to take him to). They were standing by the river and he asked her to marry him. How Romantic!?! He had chosen the perfect custom ring and celebrated with a picnic with friends afterward.
Patti and Jonah wanted to share some of their thoughts and advice with future brides as they look back on their special day!
Wedding Thoughts & Advice
1) What was your favorite wedding memory?
Patti: I loved that we were able to have Jonah’s grandpa be our ring bearer and his two grandmas as our flower girls which we called our “flower grandmas. It was a really special way we were able to incorporate them into our day. My grandma was unable to travel to the wedding because of COVID 19, so we were glad to be able to share our wedding video with her.
Jonah: I think that driving off in a boat with my beautiful wife was really cool and I liked seeing all my friends and family wave at us from the shoreline as we drove off into the sunset.
2) What is a piece of advice you would like to share with future brides?
Do not expect every detail to go perfectly or exactly how you planned. My original wedding plans were on a beach in Florida. COVID 19 had a different idea though, and we planned the wedding again in a month at a more local location. The point is that there are going to be things that happen that you cannot control, and it will be ok. At the end of the day, you will be married, and that is the most important “detail. I was reminded on the day of my wedding that I should take the day as a day of happiness rather than one of stress because the bride and groom set the mood for your friends and family.
3) What was your biggest wedding obstacle?
COVID 19. Need I say more? Other than that, time management with planning the wedding (twice), and graduating from nursing school. Planning a wedding is time-consuming no matter how big or small you make it so just give yourself the time you need.
