Engagement Photography Session in San Antonio
So, you’re engaged. Congratulations! You are probably deep in the planning process and trying to make decisions about every little detail of the wedding day. One thing you may be looking forward to is your engagement photos. These photos will be used a lot in a short amount of time. You might use them to create Save The Dates, invitations, and countdowns on social media. You want them to turn out beautiful and you also want them to capture you and your future spouse’s personalities. I have compiled a list of tips that I learned and have picked up after looking at numerous engagement shoot in San Antonio that we have done for clients at Complete Weddings + Events.
What to Wear for Your Engagement Shoot in San Antonio
-
Season:
You definitely want to think about what the weather will likely be like when taking your pictures. Your outfit will affect your comfort during a 2-hour photo shoot. You want to be comfortable and avoid giant beads of sweat running down your face on a typical 100 degree Texas day or weird facial expressions because it’s 40 degrees and you are wearing a tank top.
-
Skin Tones:
If you and your fiancé have drastically different skin tones, consider wearing colors that will balance you both out.
-
Comfort:
Remember that this photo session will likely be 2 hours long. You will want to think very carefully about every detail of the outfits including the kind of footwear you have on. You won’t want to be walking around a beach in heels or around the woods barefoot, so have a plan if that is your dream picture.
-
Backdrop:
If you have chosen a lake to do your engagement shoot, don’t wear light blue or you will disappear into the water. Consider a rather dark or bright palette to make sure you stand out. Similarly, if your background has lots of greenery, choose light colors to contrast and make sure you stand out.
-
Personality:
Don’t be afraid to do something unique to show your personality. Maybe your fiancé is a prankster and you want to get him/her back by showing up in a dinosaur costume. Those pictures would be priceless! You can also take inspiration from your favorite TV shows or movies by having a theme and dressing up in costumes.
-
Wedding Colors:
If you are the crazy organized type that knows every detail of the wedding before you do the engagement photos, then you may be able to wear the wedding colors in your engagement photos.
-
Signs:
There are so many creative ways to incorporate your wedding date into the engagement session with signs. Some signs just have the date and others include the dating anniversary and the proposal date.
-
Pets:
Lots of people want to incorporate their pets into engagement photos. You can easily make them part of the scene by using a matching leash or by having them hold a sign.
