Congratulations, you’re engaged! Now comes the wedding planning process, something that many people state may be one of the most stressful times in their lives. However, it doesn’t have to be this way. You could simply enjoy this amazing time and eliminate stress by taking the process head on and getting things taken care of! However, you’ll need some direction, so here’s some advice for you so that you can be on your way and start planning your wedding:
Start With the Guest List
The first thing you want to make sure to have taken care of is your guest list. In order to know the cost of catering, what venue you’ll pick, and pretty much everything else, you’ll want to start with your guest list. From here, you can move forward to the more exciting things.
Move to the Big Stuff
There are going to be a few things that weight heavier on your mind than most. Things like the venue, DJ, photographer, videographer, and catering. These things typically need to be figured out sooner rather than later as you’ll need to plan your wedding around them. Additionally, these things are typically booked out up to two or three years in advance at times and you’ll need to book your date to be sure that you get what you wanted for your wedding. Look for venues you like and meet with them to find the right fit. Then, come by Complete weddings + events Omaha for our happy hour every third Thursday of the month. We’ll be able to sit down with you and help you find the perfect DJ, photographer, videographer, and more!
Figure Out Attire
The next step you’ll want to take is to figure out attire, not only for the bride, but the for your whole wedding party. You’ll need to know where the bridesmaids are getting their dresses, where the groomsmen are going to get their tuxes, and most importantly, what colors everyone will wear.
Now Have Some Fun
Chances are you’ll probably get the large things taken care of and are still most likely pretty far out form the actual wedding. This is a time where you just get to sit back, relax, and enjoy being engaged. From here, it’s not a bad idea to look ahead and plan out things like your cake, where you’ll live, and what you want for decorations. This is also a good time to start adding things onto your wedding registry. So take a breath, you have some time to relax and have fun. Don’t procrastinate too much here though, you want to make sure you’re organized for when things get crazy again.
Take on the Storm
Now it’s time to hit the wedding planning hard! This is the time where you’re about three months out and are sending out your save the dates. First, you’ll send your save the dates, you’ll finalize your registry, then you’ll turn around and send out invites, then you’ll order wedding bands, etc. At this point, you’ll be taking care of a lot of small things and your free time will begin to dwindle. Make sure you don’t procrastinate too much but also don’t let yourself get stressed out! Remember, it’s stressful because your wedding is almost here, now is the time to get excited!
2 Weeks of Meetings
The last two weeks of wedding planning, right before your wedding is the craziest and busiest. You’ll be meeting with anyone and everyone that you’re working with for your wedding. It’s a good idea to be taking work off for a week or two so that you will be available to meet during these two crazy weeks.
You made it! Now enjoy and congratulations, you’re married!
