If you are looking for exquisite blufftop views of Lake Taneycomo with 272 acres of lush foliage of the rolling Ozark Mountains, then you have found your event space! Sycamore Creek offers more than just wedding services but also family-friendly events at the ranch. They host monthly barn dances that are alcohol-free and smoke-free. Whole families attend with their children – as well as seniors and many young adults and college students. They also host an annual Fall Festival called “The Fall Roundup” in addition to other seasonal events.
Mike and Lisa Button are the owners and purchased the property on May 1, 2015. They spent 2 1/2 years looking for a piece of property that would be suitable. Most of the land in Branson is rocky, hilly, and covered in trees. The Button’s were about a month away from giving up on the whole thing when this property came through. During that first year, Mike and Lisa built the barn venue and did renovations at the Ranch House to develop a small outdoor event venue overlooking Lake Taneycomo.
The Button’s hired an architect and engineer to design the barn. The massive beams were sourced from around the nation. The building process was delayed for a while due to difficulty finding the large sizes of trees required (they had to be thick from the bottom all the way to the top). It was quite a process. A large crane was used to lift each beam into place. Every beam is fit together with mortise and tenon joinery and dovetailing. It is a handcrafted, time-consuming process to carve those beams, so they fit together like puzzle pieces. The barn has 30-foot ceilings and the beams are 12-inches thick. The barn was finally completed on May 20, 2016.
One of my favorite things about the Button’s is their passion for what they do! Last time I spoke to Lisa she told me: “The entire reason we embarked on this adventure to develop Sycamore Creek Family Ranch is because of a prompting from God that came through a time of prayer. Our ultimate mission at the ranch is to “transform the culture by strengthening families.” God let us know that the family unit is very important to Him – and vital to the health of our society as a whole. The brokenness of the family has most definitely impacted the decline in our culture. God wants us to champion the family in a culture that often tears it apart, so children can grow up in healthy environments and become emotionally healthy adults.”
2018 is going to be an exciting year at the ranch since there are several new things the Button’s are currently working on. Sycamore Creek just added some brand new in-house vendors to ensure each bride and groom have the best experience possible on their wedding at the barn and ranch house. Sycamore Creek has enlisted COMPLETE weddings + events to be their exclusive DJ and Simply Delicious as their in-house caterer. The Button’s are also developing some unique forms of lodging that should be available within the coming year. As well as, adding new crops and fun community food events.
