You are not close to the vendors to taste the food, pick out the florals, see the linens, or sometimes even see the space to the level of detail you’d like. You might not have friends or family for vendor referrals either.<\/p>\n

Having to trust the professionals and “winging it” is sometimes the route you’ll have to take. Now if this terrifies you and you’d rather have more control over the details, you could consider making a trip to your destination location to knock out some of the planning and feel confident your vendors understand your vision. Overall, understanding that planning a destination wedding means you might have to relinquish some of the minor details of the day is key.<\/p>\n

Less is More<\/h3>\n

Less options only makes your decisions that much easier and faster. For someone who is overwhelmed by the mass of options with wedding planning, a destination may actually be a perfect decision. Many resorts and hotels only have one catering option or one place to order rentals, florals, and so on. In the end, you will spend a lot less time reviewing options upon options. Guest List<\/h3>\n

You can also apply the less is more mentality to your guest list. Naturally, a destination wedding means less guests. Those loved ones you truly want to be there will make the trip, if their finances allow. Know that destination locations are not the most feasible option for all.<\/p>\n

Confirm with your wedding party and closest family members that they are able to make the trip (or book it) early on. Hopefully this results in less surprises or last minute changes on various aspects of the trip later on like who is staying with who, any attire rentals or wedding party line-up.<\/p>\n
