Bridal fashion is an extremely exciting and ever-evolving subject that has become one of the biggest parts of a wedding. Every girl has dreamed of what she would look like on her wedding day at some point in her life. We have entire TV shows about finding “THE” dress. There are many different styles, shapes, and materials. Given all of this, it can be confusing! Kerith Willard, the fiance of our owner, is getting married in the Spring of 2021 and has done some of the homework for you! With her help, we have found some of the latest Fall 2020 Houston wedding dress trends, and where to find them, to inspire your decision.
2020 Fall Wedding Dress Trends
FLORAL DESIGNS
Bring on the color! Many dresses are featuring floral print all over for a look that really pops. Floral designs are extremely trendy right now for late 2020 and into 2021. It doesn’t have to just be colorful if you want to stick with something more subtle. We have seen some dresses with very low key off-white floral patterns that are far less in your face. Another way designers are incorporating using floral features is in the texture or lace. Petals are woven in veils or the train or worked into the body. They have been featured and seen on all types of gowns.
PUFFY SLEEVES
While reading that you might have gotten an image in your head of over-exaggerated and over-the-top puffy sleeves. That is not the case. These puffy sleeves are being brought back with a far more subtle look for the most part. Some designers have gone with full puff and it still works honestly! Most of these dresses provide a still elegant and classy look with a hint of nostalgia from the past. Puffy sleeves are also being incorporated into many different styles of dresses.
PANTS/JUMPSUITS
With the evolution of bridal fashion, we have seen many more designs featuring pants! From pantsuits to actual dresses with two pieces. For anyone who is looking for something other than a traditional wedding dress, you have to try this trend. Pants are comfortable and can be very form-fitting for brides who really want to accent their legs. Many designers are using the same elements from lace detailing to metallic sparkles to decorate these fashion pieces.
RUFFLES
Ruffles have been heavily featured in many gowns and are definitely in style. They are the perfect addition to give a little extra texture and substance to some dresses. Ruffles also fit the trend of light and airy looking for dresses that is popular now. They can also make the dress have a more fairytale or fanciful look while still keeping it very fashion-forward. Kerith loved the “princess” feel she got in many of these gowns. Ruffles are being seen in the skirt of a lot of ball gown and mermaid style dresses.
MODERN STYLE
Modern style dresses are one of the hottest trends of the year. Many of these gowns are sheath or A-line shapes. While having simple designs or cuts, they still look timeless and still elegant. They are featuring simple geometric lace patterns or very clean straight lines. Many are incorporating higher, more sporty necklines with many adding designs to that space on the dress.
Sparkles
Absolutely everywhere on dresses for this Fall 2020 and heading into 2021 are sparkles of all varieties. It has been worked into almost every detail or accessory imaginable if you want to go all out.
