One of the most important items to make sure you don’t over look is obtaining your marriage license in Fort Myers, Florida.<\/p>\n

For weddings in Fort Myers, you will obtain your marriage license from the Lee County Clerk of Court. You can visit their website at Marriage Licenses | Lee County Clerk of Court, FL (leeclerk.org)<\/a><\/p>\n

Below are the steps to obtain your marriage license according to the Lee County Clerk of Court website:<\/p>\n

Instructions to apply:<\/b><\/h3>\n
    \n
  1. Must complete the\u00a0Marriage License Online Application<\/a>\u00a0and write down the transaction number.<\/li>\n
  2. Both parties must read the Family Law Handbook<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  3. Print and \u00a0fill out (DO NOT sign) the Statement of Compliance Form<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  4. Print and fill in (DO NOT sign) the\u00a0Affirmation of Common Children Born in Florida Form<\/a>, ONLY IF applicants have a minor child together that was born in the state of Florida.<\/li>\n
  5. Schedule an Appointment<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    NOTE: The Marriage License Online Application is valid for 30 days.<\/p>\n

    \u00a0For The Couple:<\/strong><\/h3>\n
      \n
    1. Only the couple getting married is allowed in the office.<\/li>\n
    2. Appear in person in our office at the appointed time for the issuance of the marriage license.<\/li>\n
    3. Bring photo identification showing your name and date of birth, such as a U.S. Driver\u2019s License, U.S. State Identification Card, Military ID, Passport, Matricular ID Card,\u00a0\u00a0Foreign Passport, or U.S. Permanent Resident Card. Birth Certificates are not acceptable forms of ID.<\/li>\n
    4. Bring Social Security number (U.S. Citizens).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      NOTE:\u00a0A\u00a0marriage license\u00a0may be obtained from any county in the State of\u00a0Florida\u00a0(regardless of where you live), and can only be used to be married\u00a0within<\/strong> the State of Florida. A marriage license\u00a0is only valid\u00a0for 60 days from issuance.<\/p>\n

      Waiting Period & Discounted License<\/b><\/h3>\n

      There is a 3-day waiting period before Florida residents can use the marriage license to get married. However, the waiting period can be waived if both applicants have completed a counseling course with an approved Pre-Marital Course Provider<\/a>. There is no waiting period for non-Florida residents, but if the couple has one Florida resident, the waiting period applies.<\/p>\n
