Modern, Floral Wedding Arch Ideas

The modern wedding arch comes from the Jewish “chuppah,” the four-post canopy Jewish couples stand under at their ceremony. In the most basic sense, the arch symbolizes the home you two are beginning a family in. Your wedding arch is also a key design element in setting the tone of your ceremony. It can be romantic, modern, whimsical, or whatever you like.

Framing your “I do’s” with a beautiful wedding arch can be daunting if you aren’t sure what design you want! Thankfully there’s plenty of inspiration online, like these wedding arch ideas by ProFlowers. Begin by deciding the types of material with which you’d like to decorate your arch: flowers, greenery, fabric or other special accents. Here are a few other ideas to get you started.

Romantic Arch

Go traditional by decorating your arch with lots of big flowers. Light pink and white flowers are timeless choices. We recommend dahlias or hydrangeas for their soft, delicate petals. Cluster the flowers at the top of the arch and use more greenery towards the bottom. This will add height and visual interest to your arch.

Leave no part of your arch uncovered for a seriously stunning focal point. You will look and feel straight out of a fairytale with this design!

Old Vineyard Arch

This is a great design for rustic weddings. Upcycle old furniture like a large window frame and arrange it into an arch. The aged wood will right into a countryside aesthetic. Decorate the arch with flowers to match your bouquet, though use them sparingly with this design. You want the unique arch to be the focus.

Try draping lemon leaves or ivy around the edges of the arch. Sprinkle rose petals underneath where you will be standing to create a small stage for you and your boo. So charming!

Typography Arch

For a modern and playful display, go with a typography themed arch. Pick up or make your own typographic display to hang in the middle of the arch. It could be you and your spouse-to-be’s initials, wedding hashtag, or simply “I Do.” Spray the final product with a metallic paint to make it pop!

To finish this arch display, keep things simple. Decorate the aisle with candles or sparse greenery that will lead the eye to the front. Carry the metallic theme throughout the ceremony by painting some foliage to accent.

The wedding arch can set the mood of your wedding ceremony, so it’s worth putting thought into. Create the perfect backdrop for your and your sweetie to share your vows by DIYing it!

How-To: Lighting The *Affordable* Way

Uplighting. String lights. Candles. When affordable candelabras for every table are tough to come by, we suggest opting for one of these three budget-friendly options to light up your event. Adding a flicker of glow to your wedding reception or event has never been as easy.

Uplighting

The first step to bringing life to a drab room is uplighting the rooms perimeter. Highlight the head table, tall architecture, or simply the rooms outer walls with LED lights that beam upwards from the floor. You can easily stop there and just use uplights to achieve a big impact in your space. Complete Weddings + Events uplighting make it easier on you or your event planner since the set-up and tear-down of the lights are complimentary.

Candle Light

If your venue allows, flickering candlelight is an attractive, romantic option. Flameless, flickering candles will give you the same effect if an open flame is not permitted.

String Lights

Create beautiful evening scenery with string lights which pair perfectly with an outdoor wedding. Clear bulbs dangling around the space create help distinguish which area the party should be mingling in.

A Shy’s Dad’s Guide to Giving the Perfect Wedding Speech

Some fathers can handle being in the spotlight, so when it comes time for these dads to write their speeches, the words come spilling out. But others feel shy about the experience, and for good reason! On such an important day, in a room filled with close friends and family, it’s easy to let emotion get the best of you. Here we’ve compiled some practical advice that can help even the shyest dad have his moment.

Wait to Write

First, focus on what they want to say rather than worry about how they want to say it. Take time two to three weeks prior to the ceremony to write several thoughts on the wedding day. Make sure you have all your thoughts together first, then play around with the words.

Use Your Expertise

If you’re not sure where to start, begin with what you know best, your daughter. Add your favorite memories… when her first smile captured your heart, a first day of school…From there, welcoming the spouse to your family and wishing the bride and groom a happy, prosperous life together.

Practice Your Speech

Once you have your words down, practice, practice, practice. And don’t underestimate the power of reading it aloud in front of a mirror. What sounds good in your head may trip you up when you hear it spoken, so be sure to get comfortable well before the reception.

Let It Flow

Deliver your speech from the heart. The father of the bride’s toast is a special moment for the father and the bride and it’s one that will make everyone in the room teary as soon as you stand up. Know that no matter what you say, your little girl will love every second of it. Just as much as she already loves you.

Waking Up to Your Wedding Day!

We all have our typical #GettingReady routine, but on your wedding day, it might be difficult to execute your morning ritual. Someone else might be doing your hair or makeup, you may be staying at a hotel or your childhood home, and you most likely will just be greeted/photographed/questioned 45 times while you’re trying to get ready. #Distractions

Set your intention for the beautiful day! Think through your morning agenda ahead of time, and have someone you trust help you make a schedule. This could be a parent, member of the wedding party, host couple, or personal attendant. Ideally, if they’re available on the day-of, have them share the schedule with your wedding party and keep time on the morning activities. This way you’ll stay on schedule, but YOU won’t feel the need to stress. After all, this is YOUR big day, so allow yourself to let others do things for you.

Alarm Clock

Work with your photographer to decide how much time you’ll need for wedding pictures before your ceremony. Then, think backwards from there; planning for a first look, putting your wedding dress or suit on, and ultimately what time you need to wake up to be ready for it all! Can someone say coffee ASAP?!

Breakfast

Some say it’s the most important meal of the day. Well, on your wedding day, that goes double! Schedule someone to deliver you a filling protein shake, egg white sandwich or spinach omelet. Trust us, you don’t want to get hangry on the big day!

Sleeping Accommodations

Where will you sleeping the night before and the night of your wedding? If you’ll need to pack a bag, be sure to figure out who can check in and deliver your things to your hotel room or suite. Make sure those room access keys get back to you or your partner as well!

TAXI!

Navigate through the logistics of every location you’ll be at. From the rehearsal dinner, to your hair appointment, to your photo op destinations, how are you handling transportation? It might be best to just leave your car at home or the hotel so you have it in the morning. In case of emergency: Taxi, Uber, Lyft or Best Man! ?

Staying focused on enjoying time with those around you that morning will result in more memorable moments. Let conversation keep your mind at ease or your favorite song might help you shake off any jitters. Incorporate things that you know you’ll enjoy during the morning of your wedding (think music, meditation or a certain meal) to make it that much more special. Getting ready is half the fun, so make it count!

Nails that Slay on the Big Day

Weddings are not always perfect but your nails can be, right? Whether you are thinking of spending more on a professional and fresh manicure or a standard one, it’s always a great idea to share the session with your bridal party. And we’ve got some interesting ideas to help you nail your wedding day nails.

No.1 Go Neutral:
The most famous options? Pale pink, solid white, classic nude, and traditional french tip manicure. Classic, timeless, and flattering on all nail shapes and lengths, neutral nails win the battle for almost every bride.

No.2 Glitter it Up:
Cascading glitter on top of neutral or pink nails makes a statement that you are ready to celebrate!

No.3 Something Blue:
Every bride needs ‘something blue’, so why not make your nails just that in a light or bold blue.

No.4 Pop of Color:
Add a pop of color to your all-white bridal look with red, pink, or a color from your bouquet. You can also wear the color of your bridesmaids’ dresses on your nails which brings a beautiful and cohesive touch to the details of your big day!

How to Walk Into Your Reception Like a Boss

YES! You made it through the wedding ceremony! Now, it’s time for your first announcement as a married couple. Walking into your reception is kind of a big deal, and you don’t want to wait until the day of to figure out how you’re going to make your grand entrance! These days, moments like this are captured not only for your official wedding video, but also on a few dozen smartphone cameras, and possibly shared across multiple social media platforms, but no pressure!

No need to scour internet forums or frantically search YouTube videos for ideas. At Complete Weddings + Events, we’ve witnessed thousands of entrances through the years (some awesome, and some not so awesome). From choreographed dance moves to props, we’ve seen it all. So, we put together the perfect “How To” guide just for you to make sure you walk into your reception like a boss.

Don’t be afraid to be goofy. If it’s not a little awkward you’re not doing it right. You have to fully commit, and remember that everyone is there to celebrate YOU! When the guests see you having fun, it automatically sets the tone for the rest of the reception. Comedy is your friend!

Get the whole bridal party on board. The bride and groom are the main attractions, but it’s even better when the whole group gets in on the fun to build up the momentum for the new married couple’s big announcement! Encourage them to get creative, and props are always a fun addition. Sunglasses, hats, or switching outfits (pending both parties are on board) can elevate an entrance from bland to grand. Props help take some of the pressure off because there’s something else for people to focus on, and they help spur creativity!

Be yourself! Some people go for the shock value and others go for sweet and romantic -but whatever you do, make sure it feels authentic for you. At the end of the day, you want to be comfortable and able to enjoy YOUR moment to its fullest.

If dancing isn’t your thing, you can use dramatic lighting to take your moment to the next level. Complete’s lighting experts will help make your entrance all about you. From Old Hollywood with dim lighting and a spotlight, or neon flashing lights for the rockstars out there.

Now, let’s look at some epic entrances (and fails) to get inspired for what TO DO and NOT TO DO.  If being outrageous isn’t your style, here are some entrances even your grandma can get behind.

Let’s take a look at the the video that inspired people to start getting more creative with their entrances: The JK Wedding Dance Entrance. Granted this is a wedding entrance, not a reception, but with over 97 million YouTube views it’s deserving of a mention! If you have been been living under a rock and haven’t seen this yet, you’re in for a treat! It has it all – the whole bridal party, props, music, authenticity and most of all FUN! Enjoy!

Who doesn’t love a good riding lawn mower entrance. Now that’s authentic!

DO have a wedding party dance party once the bride & groom make their entrance!

DO learn choreographed bridal party dance moves / dance offs!

DON’T knock the bridesmaid over!

We hope you are inspired to create your own unique moments! Once you have your ideas ready, you can work with your DJ to play the perfect soundtrack as you and your bridal party walk in. Our DJs have all of the best playlists to make your entrance one for the books! The best part is, you get to decide because after all, it’s all about you! Happy wedding planning. If you’re ready to get your party started from photography, videography, DJs, photo booth or lighting, contact Complete Weddings + Events. We would love to help you celebrate your special day!
