While 2020 gave us quite a few unexpected curveballs, many lucky couples were still blessed to be able to host the day of their dreams. 2020 weddings have come in all shapes in sizes, with varying regulations and adjustments to make these magical days quite the successful miracle. From micro weddings to massive ones (prior to mid-March), we loved playing our part for every event!
Despite the challenges, our Complete Weddings + Events team in Des Moines has been continually reminded of why we love what we do. “Working with Complete Weddings and events was great and took a lot of stress off of my husband and me. The forms that are needed to be filled out are really great and easy to use and keeps those details all in one spot. We booked the photographer and DJ (though we didn’t end up using the dj do to having to cut our guest list way way down). “Sue, Brandon (DJ) and Jenni (photographer) were so great to work with! Sue is very responsive and replied quickly any time day or night when I texted or emailed with questions. Brandon was upbeat and knew how to get the crowd started and keep them on the dance floor throughout the night. Jenni is very personable and easy to connect with so that you can relax and be yourself when she’s shooting. We loved how the DJ and photography services were with the same company; it streamlined everything and we could use the DJ for the ceremony music too. “We loved having Complete at our wedding. We found them at a wedding show in Des Moines and were able to get a great deal on their services. From the beginning they were very helpful, providing planning sheets and contact via email to help us plan how our wedding will go and to answer any questions. Getting closer to our day they gave us the names and contact information for our vendors and when I lost that information they were quick to send it to me again. We were able to chat with Quinton, our DJ, via Zoom a week before our day to iron out some details including the timing of the evening and the type of music we wanted (we have an odd taste in music and he was able to accommodate us without any issue, I walked down to Hamilton and Ryan Bingham was the artist for our first dance song). Emily was our photographer for the day. She was great! She coordinated really well with our private videographer and even accommodated some odd poses we requested. She made sure we had time to mingle with our guests as well as time for photos. During our dances I barely noticed her, but I could see her working hard on the sidelines. We really liked her. We also got the photo booth and up lighting. We were able to get the lighting in mint green, which was one of our wedding colors and it really put a nice polish on our decorations. The photo booth was definitely the biggest hit of the night. Andrea and Misty were super friendly and were even seen dancing when they weren’t busy. We received a copy of all the photo strip in a book with notes from our guests, which was one of our favorite items from the night. The pictures were a blast to look through. The communication beforehand and throughout the event was great, and we couldn’t be happier with all their work! “Nate was our DJ for our wedding and he was the best DJ we could have asked for! From the very beginning, he stayed after hours at Complete just to meet us in person to ensure he would be a good fit for us. He communicated with us very effectively, and played all our favorite songs during our reception. We even had a few games we wanted to play, and he was more than willing to incorporate those-he even played theme music from different game shows!
Nate also helped make the day run very smoothly. He was set up early and offered to help before guests arrived at the reception. He worked with our photographer to make our timeline work in the best possible way. He even carried my plate through the buffet line so I wouldn’t get anything on my dress!
Our friends and family had such a fun night and we did too! We had people telling us our DJ was fabulous and played music we all loved. The last 30 minutes when he joined all of us in a circle on the dance floor was the perfect way to end the night. “I liked everything!! As weddings go…things happen, when our DJ (not associated with Complete Weddings) notified us that he was unable to do the wedding the day prior to the wedding he recommended Complete Weddings and Events to us. I called Sue and 20 minutes later we had a DJ. Not knowing how this was going to go with so little notice, to say we were nervous was an understatement. The DJ, “Darcy”, was amazing…he contacted the bride and got all the information and when I say he knocked it out of the park…that is another understatement! The wedding and reception were perfect…in large part due to Darcy and his ability to come in and make everyone feel at ease and how he ‘managed the reception’…he didn’t miss a beat and everyone had a wonderful time!
