In a world of instant gratification, patience certainly isn’t a popular trait among us. Information is immediate, luxuries can be delivered to your door by sunset, and almost everyone is merely a phone call away. However, there are still some things that require a bit of waiting, and wedding photos are one of them. From culling and organizing to editing and uploading, most wedding galleries take a bit of time.
That being said, there are a few main factors that contribute to a gallery’s timeframe. Arguably the most prominent one is…
#1. Photo Count
To put it simply, the more photos that are included in your wedding gallery, the longer it’ll take to edit. It’s common for couples to receive anywhere from 400 to 800 edited photos, but this can vary between photographers. #2. Time of Year
When it comes to hosting a wedding, some months are more popular than others. May and October, for example, are arguably the two busiest for most photographers. Because of this, more photos are taken, which leads to more time spent in the editing room. If the idea of eagerly waiting to receive your gallery sounds brutal, then choosing a less-popular wedding month may be a smart move! November is my favorite, which I talk about in this blog here!
#3. Location(s)
Although not as obvious as the previous two, the type and number of locations your wedding occurs at is another determining factor of how long it may take you to receive your photos. For example, many couples choose to host their wedding ceremony at a church, followed by taking photos at a park before heading to their venue. Each of these locations have different lighting and color pallets, meaning the photos from each one will need to be edited differently as well. There are many reasons to host your wedding at one location, and getting your photos back quicker is one of them!
