What Happens if Your Photographer Gets Sick on Your Wedding Day?
We’ve all read the Facebook horror stories. With mere hours until a couple’s wedding day, their photographer cancels due to falling ill. Having no backup plan, they do their best to capture the memories with their phones, but are ultimately left with a handful of low-res pictures. As crushing as stories like this are, they’re unfortunately all too common. As a wedding videographer, I couldn’t begin to tell you how many I’ve heard over the years. Without a backup plan established, there’s next to nothing a couple can do if their photographer or videographer cancels. However, with a bit of planning upfront, these situations can be avoided! Here are a few steps you can take to ensure that your wedding day is successfully captured, regardless of whether your photographer gets sick on your wedding day.
#1. Choose Reliable Photographers
No matter how great a photographer’s images may look on their website, if they aren’t someone you can count on, there’s no point in working with them. Reliability is arguably THE most important trait to have in this business, as nothing else matters without it. When looking for your wedding photographer, seek out those with solid reviews and good reputations. This significantly lowers the risk of you being bailed on, since they likely have a contingency plan in case something goes wrong.
#2. Second Shooters
Many photographers often work with 2nd (or even 3rd) photographers in order to more efficiently capture their couple’s wedding days. However, it also ensures that you won’t be out of luck if one of them gets sick! Most couples I work with hire two photographers, and although it may be more expensive, it always ends up being worth it. Not only will you have more photo coverage throughout your wedding day, but you’ll have a backup in case your lead photographer falls ill, as well.
#3. Work With a Company
Arguably the best way to avoid your photographer canceling on you is to go with a wedding company that ensures that there is ALWAYS a backup on standby. Most companies have dozens of photographers and videographers on staff, who can easily be called in case something goes wrong. At Complete Weddings & Events Columbus, our couples can rest assured that they’ll have a photographer at their wedding… no matter what.
There are many things that can be redone, but your wedding isn’t one of them. Having a vendor team you can count on is essential to keeping your special day running smoothly. Because of this, we at Complete Weddings & Events Columbus offer not only reliable photographers, but videographers, DJs and coordinators, as well. Check out our website for more info!
